After years of speculation and rumors surrounding the cult classic comedy Arrested Development’s return to the small screen and foray into the large, the Huffington Post reports today that there will be 9 to ten new episodes produced in addition to a movie. And soon.
The news was announced at The New Yorker festival on Sunday. The release of the episodes and subsequent movies are set for early ’13. The episodes are planned to shine a spotlight on each character as a lead-in to the movie.
I know I’m excited to see what they come up with after all these years – the show was cancelled during it’s third season back in 2006.
It will be interesting to see if today’s audience appreciates the show’s humor as much as audiences did in 2004-2006. I guess we will see soon enough if there truly is always money in the banana stand.
