Happy Birthday Dr. Elliot Reid

Today is Sarah Chalke’s 36th birthday!  Sarah Chalke is best known for her role as Dr. Elliot Reid on “Scrubs.” Her character Elliot is quirky, neurotic, and a huge klutz. The series ended after 9 seasons but the legacy of the show lives on! To celebrate Sarah Chalke’s birthday, please enjoy the top 6 Elliot Reid quotes from “Scrubs.”

“I will never get this fellowship – I don’t interview well. It’s the reason I didn’t get into Harvard. The second the professor asked me what I hoped to accomplish in college, my nose started bleeding, and I sneezed and splattered his shirt with blood.”

“I started an ‘I hate Cox’ chat room. It didn’t work out the way I planned. It’s just me, two interns and 14,000 lesbians.”

“I’ve learned two things since I’ve been pregnant: ketchup on cereal is delicious and sometimes you need to be selfish.”

“I’ve been making out with a married man while his sick child slept a few feet away. Oh my god! I’ve become my mother!”

“Carla, I don’t photograph well. On my driver’s license, I look like Gary Busey.”

and finally…

“When I was little, my mom told me my farts were little demons crawling around in my belly and if I let one out it’d give my grandmother cancer.”

R.I.P. Eduard Khil (aka Mr. Trololo)

Today Mr. Khil, age 77, passed away at a hospital in St. Petersburg.  He had been hospitalized since early April after he suffered a stroke that left him severely brain damaged.  Ultimately that stroke was the cause of death.

Mr. Khil reached international star status in 2010 when his video circulated youtube, 34 years after his original performance on a Russian television show.  The song he performs in the video is called, “I Am Glad, ‘Cause I’m Finally Returning Back Home.”  In an interview with Life News he stated, “There is a back story about this song. Originally, we had lyrics written for this song but they were poor. I mean, they were good, but we couldn’t publish them at that time. They contained words like these: ‘I’m riding my stallion on a prairie, so-and-so mustang, and my beloved Mary is thousand miles away knitting a stocking for me’. Of course, we failed to publish it at that time, and we, Arkady Ostrovsky [the songwriter] and I, decided to make it a vocalization. But the essence remained in the title. The song is very playful – it has no lyrics, so we had to make up something for people would listen to it, and so this was an interesting arrangement.”

Here’s Waldo! (And Wenda, too)

You’re used to coming to us for Dead tees and Floyd tapestries and Always Sunny in Philadelphia hoodies, but maybe you didn’t know that we also have an extensive Halloween selection. Everything from a giant boob to superhero costume tees to fangs and manic panic hair dye, we’ve got you covered, and there’s still time to order from anywhere in the U.S. and have your items in time.

This year we have some really badass additions to our collection, like this Mad Hatter hat with wig:

But what I really wanted to find I mean focus on is Where’s Waldo. As in, he’s in the warehouse. Wenda, too. The costumes, that is. So technically Waldo can go wherever you want him to. You with me?

Glasses, hat, and shirt come in the kit.

In addition to that, we have Wenda’s high socks AND this super cool logo messenger bag pictured below. And of course, I don’t have to tell you that it’s the kind of thing you’ll use all year long.

You may even have more fun being Waldo than the “real” one, whose last tweeted location (follow him @findwaldo) was the Salto Angel Falls on the Rio Guaja in Venezuela.

Especially when you consider that no annoying coworkers, neighbors, or fellow party-goers can blame you for avoiding them in this costume! You’re just playing the part.

There’s Always Money In The Banana Stand

After years of speculation and rumors surrounding the cult classic comedy Arrested Development’s return to the small screen and foray into the large, the Huffington Post reports today that there will be 9 to ten new episodes produced in addition to a movie. And soon.

The news was announced at The New Yorker festival on Sunday. The release of the episodes and subsequent movies are set for early ’13. The episodes are planned to shine a spotlight on each character as a lead-in to the movie.

I know I’m excited to see what they come up with after all these years – the show was cancelled during it’s third season back in 2006.

It will be interesting to see if today’s audience appreciates the show’s humor as much as audiences did in 2004-2006. I guess we will see soon enough if there truly is always money in the banana stand.
